It’s something you hear all the time isn’t it? Start a gratitude journal, practice gratitude every day, blah blah blah. But why should we practice gratitude? And HOW do we do that?
In my experience, this gratitude stuff really works. It’s not a sudden dramatic thing, but gradually, as I’ve looked for something to be grateful for whenever I remember, I’ve weakened the misery neural pathways and strengthened the happy ones.
You don’t have to bother with a journal, though I’m told writing it down helps. I started with consciously thinking of something I’m grateful for as I go to sleep. Then just kept practising!
Take a moment to think of something you’re grateful for right now, however small. Get really specific if you can. Let me know what you came up with, I’d love to know…
